Steph Mercado is a Floridian-born alternative pop artist whose warm, honey-toned voice and emotive songwriting blend pop, soul, and rock influences. She began singing in choirs, talent shows, and musicals, later founding her own acapella group in college while teaching herself piano and guitar.
At 26, Steph wrote her first song, Here I Go Again, and began recording independently — releasing early tracks with musicians found online before teaming up with Virginia-based producer John Brooks. Together, they created her debut EP during the pandemic, a six-song collection that leaned into pop rock and laid the foundation for her live performances across the DMV. With her band “Steph,” she headlined well-known local venues including Pearl Street Warehouse, Songbyrd Music House, and Jammin’ Java.
In late 2024, Steph returned to her solo roots, embracing a fuller, more authentic sound that integrates her love of the piano, poetic lyricism, and powerhouse ballads. Her current work channels both the intimacy of singer-songwriters like Sara Bareilles and the passion of icons like Adele and Elton John, while infusing a modern pop edge.
Now, with a catalog of new demos and a renewed artistic vision, Steph is preparing to bring her vibrant performances and heartfelt storytelling to wider stages — ready to connect deeply with audiences and carve her path in today’s pop landscape.
